مجله شهرسازی و مهندسی یک مجله بین المللی است. مجله شهرسازی و مهندسی مقالاتی را درباره بسیاری از حوزه های مهندسی، شهرسازی، پلانگذاری، سیاستگذاری شهری، جامعه شناسی شهری، حقوق شهری، اقتصاد شهری و محیط زیست شهری منتشر می کند. این مجله خود را به ارائه یک بستر بین المللی و میان رشته ای برای تبادل ایده و اطلاعات در میان معماران، شهرسازان، برنامه ریزان، سیاست گذاران، جامعه شناسان، حقوق دانان، تحلیلگران و شهرنشینان از همه رشته های علوم اجتماعی و فنی موظف می داند. اهداف اصلی مجله درک وضعیت شهری و تغییرات سریع در حال انجام شهرهای افغانستان و جهان، تجزیه و تحلیل و ارزیابی توسعه شهری و مدیریت شهری گذشته و حال، شناخت مشکلات، راهبردها و راه حل های مسایل شهری و همچنین ترویج اجرای سیاستهای مناسب شهری در کشورهای در حال توسعه می باشد. موضوعات تحت پوشش عبارتند از: سازگاری شهری با تغییرات اقلیمی، توسعه پایدار شهری، زیست پذیری و کیفیت زندگی شهری، مقاومت شهری، تروریسم و جنگ شهری، برنامه ریزی مسکن، برنامه ریزی کاربری زمین، سکونتگاه های غیررسمی، بی خانمانی و سیاست های رفاهی شهری، جرم و امنیت شهری، حقوق و قوانین شهری، حق به شهر، همکاری بخش خصوصی و دولتی در اقتصاد شهری، مشکلات توسعه و برنامه ریزی بازآفرینی شهری، حفاظت از محله ها و طراحی شهری، مهاجرت نیروی کار و سیاست شهری، نظریه شهری، جامعه شناسی شهری، حاکمیت و حکمروایی شهری و شهر هوشمند می باشد.
