Aims, scope and focus
«Mediterranea. Ricerche storiche» non intende tuttavia chiudersi nel ristretto ambito siciliano, ma come si evince dal nome stesso si considera aperta all’intera area mediterranea, nella consapevolezza che la storia della Sicilia non è avulsa (sequestrata?) da quella dei paesi europei e delle sponde dell’Africa e dell’Asia Minore, tanto intensi nel tempo sono stati con essi i suoi rapporti commerciali e culturali, che in talune epoche hanno interessato anche le zone nordiche (Gran Bretagna, Paesi baltici). Cronologicamente intendiamo coprire l’arco temporale dal basso Medioevo all’età contemporanea, ossia l’ultimo millennio della nostra storia: il periodo precedente richiede altre competenze e metodologie.
