Aims, scope and focus

Marine Systems and Ocean Technology is published by Springer Nature. By OpenAlex counts of its recent articles, its largest topics are Ship Hydrodynamics and Maneuverability, Offshore Engineering and Technologies and Wave and Wind Energy Systems, together about 36.7% of its articles. Its main subfields are Ocean Engineering. (generated from OpenAlex topic counts and CAS ranking data)

Marine Systems & Ocean Technology covers broad and interdisciplinary aspects of marine and ocean engineering, including naval architecture. It provides a forum for promoting and discussing scientific and technological developments in these fields. The journal spans the disciplines of civil, mechanical, electrical, material, petroleum, coastal and oceanographic engineering, applied oceanography and meteorology and applied mathematics to bridge the gap between the design process through operation and decommissioning of marine systems. Marine Systems & Ocean Technology accepts scientific and technological contributions on several related topics including, but not limited to: Hydrodynamics, structural response and control applications of fixed and floating marine systems (ships, offshore platforms, advanced marine vehicles and multibodies). Ocean renewable energy systems, including fixed and floating wind turbine systems, wave-energy extracting devices, ocean thermal energy conversion and sustainable sea resources utilization. Underwater technology (including submarines, robotics, design and operation of diving systems, surveys and maintenance systems, umbilical cables, pipelines and risers). Computational methods in naval architecture, offshore/ocean engineering, coastal engineering and related areas, with an emphasis on numerical simulations, artificial intelligence applications, and digital twins. Environmental studies related to marine pollution, climate change impact assessments, oil spills and leakage prevention and control, as well as safety concepts and risk analysis applied to marine systems. Ocean and river transportation economics, marine engineering and environmental protection, offshore support bases and logistics. Ship production engineering, including shipyard techniques, material science, advanced manufacturing, and welding technologies. Smart sensor networks, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), and remote sensing technologies for ocean monitoring. Advanced materials and structural innovations for marine and offshore applications. Sustainable design, lifecycle assessment, and decommissioning strategies for offshore and maritime structures. Articles are expected to be high quality contributions reflecting new and significant research, advanced developments and applications. All manuscripts must be prepared in English and will be subjected to a fair peer-review process. The final decision to publish the article will be made based on originalit
