LUMAT Journals consists of two journals, LUMAT and LUMAT-B. Both of these journals publish research articles on math, science and technology education, but with a slightly different scope: LUMAT is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research articles and review articles, whereas LUMAT-B publishes online books as well as proceedings from conferences, seminars and symposia. LUMAT journals are published by the University of Helsinki, Finland / LUMA Centre Finland and supported by the LUMAT Science Research Forum. LUMAT has a JUFO 1 classification in the Finnish Publication Forum rating. Publishing in LUMAT is free for authors. We don't charge any author fees. LUMAT is currently indexed in Crossref, DOAJ, EBSCO, ERIC, Scopus, Google Scholar and Index Copernicus. Background LUMAT Journal was founded by Prof. Maija Aksela, director of national LUMA centre Finland, University of Helsinki. LUMAT was launched in 2013, due to a growing need for an online platform that publishes research articles and conference proceedings on math, science and technology education, written in Finnish and Swedish. Submissions written in English were also accepted from the very start. Initially, all accepted manuscripts, ranging from conference proceedings to review articles, were published on the same platform. However, in 2016, the journal was divided into two separate journals to help distinguish the type of publication at hand, as well as to clarify the review process. Today, LUMAT Journals publish scientific work from around the world. Scope and Issues LUMAT publishes special issues on math, science and technology education. Submitted manuscripts can be original research articles, reviews or perspective papers. Research papers are peer-reviewed articles that report new research data. Decision on the publication will be made according to the recommendations of experts from the particular academic field. When advised, the editorial board may request revisions on the manuscript before publication. For more information on the criteria of research papers and review process in general, please see Review process and guidelines. Perspective and Review papers are peer-reviewed, citable articles on topics related to research and practice in math, science and technology education. Perspective papers do not normally report new data, but present a well-argued opinion, hypothesis or conjecture on topics judged by the referees and editor to be of interest to the readership.
