Die aktuelle Ausgabe ist allein dem Thema Open Access gewidmet, und zwar aus kultur- und sozialwissenschaftlicher Perspektive. Neun Beiträge beleuchten Open Access aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven und nehmen dabei die vielfältigen Debatten auf, die sich im Bereich von Open Science seit den frühen 2000er Jahren dazu entwickelt haben. Die Beiträge, viele dabei mit ganz aktuellen Praxisbezügen, zeigen auf, warum das Thema politisch ist: Es geht nicht zuletzt um eine offene, transparente, inklusive und nachhaltige Wissenschaft. kommunikation@gesellschaft startete 2000 selbst als Open-Access-Journal und ist stolz darauf, dass dieses Thema nun im Mittelpunkt einer umfangreichen Sonderausgabe steht.
