The Journal of Responsible Innovation (JRI) provides a forum for discussions of the normative governance, practice, and assessment of knowledge-based innovation. JRI offers humanists, social scientists, policy analysts, legal scholars, natural scientists, and engineers an opportunity to articulate, strengthen, and critique the relations among approaches to responsible innovation. These approaches include: ethics, technology assessment, governance, sustainability, public engagement, management and strategy socio-technical integration, and others. JRI considers responsible innovation to be inclusive of these and related terms and the journal invites comparisons and contrasts among such concepts. While issues of risk and environmental health and safety are relevant, JRI especially encourages attention to the assessment of the broader and more subtle human and social dimensions of innovation—including moral, cultural, political, and religious dimensions, soft impacts, and sustainable development—addressed in a systemic fashion. We welcome submissions informed by different disciplines in the social sciences, humanities, law, natural sciences and engineering. Importantly, please note that all submissions to JRI, regardless of type, must make an original contribution to scholarship on responsible innovation. Such scholarship, although multi- and interdisciplinary, has a common focus on investigating the normative governance, practice, and assessment of knowledge-based innovation. Authors are therefore expected to meaningfully engage with extant research on responsible innovation and demonstrate theoretical, empirical, or methodological contributions to the field. Such contributions must be clearly explained in the submitted manuscripts. We encourage authors to read the editorial published by Fisher et al. (2024) as an orientation to the journal, the scholarly study of responsible innovation, and the types of articles we publish. JRI invites three kinds of written contributions: research articles of 6,000 to 10,000 words in length, inclusive of notes and references, that communicate original theoretical or empirical investigations; perspectives of approximately 2,000 words in length that communicate opinions, summaries, or reviews of timely issues, publications, cultural or social events, or other activities; pedagogy communicating in appropriate length experience in or studies of teaching, training, and learning related to responsible innovation in formal (e.g.,
