The Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering covers the development, processing, evaluation, applications, and performance of construction materials. Areas of interest include the selection, design, advanced characterization, testing, modeling, and performance of asphalt binders, asphalt mixtures, and additives, with particular attention to their resource efficiency, durability, sustainability, and environmental impacts. Emphasis is placed on technologies and methods that enhance performance, extend service life, and support sustainable, cost-effective infrastructure. Section C (Geo-materials - bases/subbases) of the Journal includes soils located in and around civil infrastructure systems; focus is more on material characterization either in natural state or in enhanced state (either by mechanical/chemical/other methods of improvements). Section D (Hybrid - Masonry/Metals/Timber) of the Journal welcomes original research on fiber-reinforced polymers, steel, wood and timber, masonry and historic materials, and non-destructive testing. Manuscripts submitted to this section normally focus on material characterization, processing, structural performance, durability, repair and retrofitting, composite or hybrid structural systems, and advanced diagnostics. Submissions combining experimental results with numerical or analytical modeling, highlighting new solutions and implications to practice, are particularly encouraged.
