The Journal of Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology (JIMB) is a publication of the Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology that publishes papers in all aspects of Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology. These include: Biocatalysis: Discovery, characterization and engineering of enzymes towards biocatalytic and green chemistry applications. Environmental Microbiology: New insights into microbial-host interactions; applications of microbes for sustainable processes such as biodegradation, bioremediation and plastics upcycling. Fermentation, Cell Culture & Bioengineering: New approaches to microbial fermentation and mammalian cell culture that lead to more robust and reproducible growth and production, improved product titer, and/or elimination of undesirable byproducts. Metabolic Engineering & Synthetic Biology: Engineering of microbes, plants and mammalian cells using modern genetic engineering approaches for desired phenotypes, properties or product profiles. We are particularly interested in the development and engineering of biosynthetic pathways that produce useful chemicals, pharmaceuticals, fuels, etc. Natural Products Biosynthesis and Engineering:The discovery and characterization of new natural products, with a special emphasis on the genome-driven approaches such as genome mining, heterologous expression and pathway engineering. Characterization and modification of biosynthetic enzymes towards product structural diversification is also of considerable interest. Applied Genomics & Systems Biotechnology: Application of genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics to the understanding and engineering of industrially relevant organisms, model laboratory organisms, microbiome, and understudied but potentially useful organisms for industrial microbiology. Bioenergy, Biofuels & Biochemicals: New approaches to enhanced production of bioenergy, biofuels and biochemicals using microbes. Novel biochemical, enzymatic and consolidated approaches to the conversion of biomass to biofuels. Biotechnology Methods & Techniques: The description of new biotechnological methods in construction, editing and propagation of recombinant DNA molecules. New approaches to genome editing, especially in organisms that are genetically difficult to manipulate. New workflows in computation identification of useful enzymes and biosynthetic pathways. Food Biotechnology & Probiotics: The application of biotechnology to the production of food and improve
