Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth Editorial Letter – Updated January 13, 2022 The Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth serves as the premier publication worldwide across the breadth of solid Earth geophysics. It has long distinguished itself as the venue for publication of research articles that significantly advance the science represented by the scope of the journal –using various data and techniques to study the solid Earth. As a matter of record, a large proportion of research articles published in JGR: Solid Earth have had lasting impacts in their fields. Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth welcomes original, innovative work including data analysis and modeling, theoretical and numerical developments, instrumental advances, and developments of conceptual ideas, provided it falls within the scope of the journal, is robustly supported and significantly advances the current state of knowledge in solid Earth Geophysics. An important feature of Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth is the absence of a page limit (though ≤25 “publication units” is recommended); papers provide comprehensive and detailed accounts of scientific research, with little, if any, reference to supplementary material. To ensure that published papers are of high quality in science, writing, presentation, transparency, and integrity of content, they are handled by a large team of high-level, international, expert Editors spanning a large diversity in expertise, gender, and geography: currently 8 Editors including the EiC and more than 90 Associate Editors. The editorial team is furthermore working with more than 2000 reviewers who are renowned international experts in their field. We detail below the key principles that guide the strategy of the current Editorial board of the Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth. Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth welcomes papers in a broad range of Earth science disciplines, including, in alphabetic order, data science and artificial intelligence with solid Earth applications, Earth imaging and probing of various types and scales (from surface to core), environmental geophysics, geochemistry, geodesy, geodynamics and plate kinematics, geomagnetism and paleomagnetism, gravimetry, hydrogeophysics, marine geology and geophysics, mass transport studies, modeling of Earth systems and processes, natural hazards related to solid Earth processes, paleoseismology, petrology and mineralogy, remote sensing, ro
