Aims, scope and focus
Journal of Algebraic Combinatorics is published by Springer US and is in Zone 3 of Mathematics in the CAS Journal Ranking (2025 upgraded edition). By OpenAlex counts of its recent articles, its largest topics are Advanced Combinatorial Mathematics, Finite Group Theory Research and Algebraic structures and combinatorial models, together about 37.9% of its articles. Its main subfields are Geometry and Topology. (generated from OpenAlex topic counts and CAS ranking data)
The Journal of Algebraic Combinatorics provides a single forum for papers on algebraic combinatorics that used to be distributed throughout a number of journals. Research contributions in the field are increasingly seen to have substantial links with other areas of mathematics. The journal publishes papers in which combinatorics and algebra interact in a significant and interesting fashion. This interaction might occur through the study of combinatorial structures using algebraic methods, or the application of combinatorial methods to algebraic problems. The combinatorics might be enumerative, or involve matroids, posets, polytopes, codes, designs, or finite geometries. The algebra could be group theory, representation theory, lattice theory or commutative algebra, to mention just a few possibilities. Papers on applications are welcome. The Journal of Algebraic Combinatorics is published bi-monthly, with distribution to librarians, researchers in combinatorics, and mathematical and computer scientists with a strong interest in combinatorial structure. The journal maintains strict refereeing procedures through its editorial policies in order to publish papers of only the highest quality.
