Journal for Research in Arts and Sports Education er et nordisk og internasjonalt tidsskrift med åpen tilgang (open access) som publiserer originale vitenskapelige artikler av høy faglig kvalitet innen utdanningsfeltene kunstfag, kroppsøving og idrett. Tidsskriftet ønsker bidrag innen: Kunstfaglige kontekster, som for eksempel musikk, dans, drama og teater, visuell kunst, film, litteratur og også forskning innen estetisk tilnærming til læring og performativ tilnærminger til forskning og undervisning. Utdanningsfaglige og/eller profesjonsrettede tema knyttet til kroppsøving, fysisk aktivitet eller idrett. Relevante felt er kroppsøving, fysisk aktivitet og idrett i grunnskole, videregående skole, barnehage, skolefritidsordning og høyere utdanning Tverrfaglige prosjekter, eller filosofisk-teoretisk forskning på tvers av fagene i kunst og kroppsøving. Tidsskriftet ønsker bidrag som belyser og diskuterer pågående forskning knyttet til kunstfagene og kroppsøving/idrettsfag. Det kan være forskning som dreier seg om utviklingen og endringene innen fagene, som ser på ulike undervisningsopplegg, didaktikk og ulike typer utdanning, og ulike trinn, alt fra barnehage til høyere utdanning. Tidsskriftet er spesielt interessert i det økende antall forskningsprosjekter som dannes på tvers av kunstneriske- undervisnings- og forskningsaktiviteter. Journal for Research in Arts and Sports Education ønsker å formidle artikler med et mangfold av metodologiske og teoretiske utgangspunkt. Tidsskriftet vil gjerne ha bidrag som undersøker bruken av forskning i kunst og idrett, som en måte å utvikle feltet på. Tidsskriftets lesere omfatter lærere, forskere, kunstnere, undervisende kunstnere, idrettsutøvere, pedagogiske ledere og beslutningstakere. I tillegg til fagfellevurderte artikler publiserer Journal for Research in Arts and Sports Education også lederartikler og anmeldelser av nordisk litteratur innen kunstfagene og kroppsøving/idrettsfag, samt temanummer basert på innspill fra redaksjonsrådet.
