Основной целью журнала «Известия Алтайского государственного университета» является публикация результатов научных исследований в избранных направлениях (физико-математические и исторические науки) с учетом новейших отечественных и мировых достижений по этим направлениям. Основные задачи: - повышение уровня научных исследований за счет оперативной публикации наиболее значимых результатов; - расширение взаимодействия российских и зарубежных ученых, работающих в указанных направлениях; - информирование специалистов о новейших методах и методиках исследования; - повышение профессионального уровня научных работников, преподавателей, аспирантов и студентов. Кроме того, ставятся следующие задачи: - обеспечение соответствия уровню мировых требований к научно-периодическим изданиям; - повышение авторитета журнала за счет улучшения рейтинговых показателей и открытого представления публикаций; - расширение аудитории авторов и читателей в России и за рубежом.
