La revue INRAE Productions Animales publie en accès libre sans frais de publication, des articles de synthèse permettant la mise à jour des connaissances pour toutes les espèces d’intérêt zootechnique (herbivores, monogastriques et poissons) dans les domaines de la nutrition et l'alimentation, la physiologie, la pathologie, la génétique, les techniques et les systèmes d'élevage, la qualité des produits, la sécurité alimentaire, l'économie des productions… avec comme objectif de mieux faire connaître les travaux conduits par l’INRAE ou en collaboration avec d’autres organismes. Sur invitation ou après accord préalable de la rédaction, la revue peut publier des articles émanant d’autres organismes de recherche français ou étrangers.
