Innovar es una revista de investigación académica (Beltrán, 2017; Morris, Barnas, LaFrenier y Reich, 2013). Su objetivo es difundir la producción académica de los campos disciplinares de la gestión y la contabilidad, así como de las ciencias sociales que tengan alguna implicación en el estudio de las organizaciones, desde diversos posicionamientos epistemológicos y metodológicos. En este sentido, su público objetivo se compone, principalmente, por investigadores, docentes, estudiantes y practicantes de diversas disciplinas interesados en los avances contemporáneos de la literatura académica de interés de la revista. Su periodicidad es trimestral, así: enero-marzo, abril-junio, julio-septiembre, octubre-diciembre. Recientemente, Innovar ha implementado la modalidad de publicación anticipada, entregando a sus lectores las versiones preprensa de sus futuros números, lo que permite reducir los tiempos de espera de los autores en el proceso de producción editorial. Si bien Innovar es editada y financiada por la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, se caracteriza por tener un alcance internacional. Dentro de su público lector se destacan las comunidades hispano y lusoparlantes de los campos de la gestión y la contabilidad, principalmente. Innovar, en conjunto con sus comités editorial y científico, así como con su comunidad en general, aspira a ser un canal de interacción y diálogo sobre las discusiones relevantes y contemporáneas que emergen en estos campos disciplinares. Dentro de su ejercicio editorial, Innovar realiza una revisión previa a la aprobación del artículo, en la que verifica la originalidad e ineditud del documento postulado y evalúa el cumplimiento de las directrices para autores. Además, Innovar cuenta con un proceso de evaluación doble ciego, bajo el cual ni los autores conocerán la identidad de sus evaluadores, ni los evaluadores conocerán la identidad de los autores; de este modo, Innovar previene que se presenten conflictos de intereses entre autores y evaluadores. Una vez aprobado un artículo por los pares evaluadores, este entra en una lista de artículos elegibles por parte del editor en jefe para la selección y armado del número correspondiente. Luego de definida la composición del número, se inicia el proceso de cuidado y producción editorial.
