Scope

Aims, scope and focus

Indian Journal of Chemistry is in Zone 4 of Chemistry in the CAS Journal Ranking (2025 upgraded edition). By OpenAlex counts of its recent articles, its largest topics are Synthesis and biological activity, Synthesis and Characterization of Heterocyclic Compounds and Metal complexes synthesis and properties, together about 43.9% of its articles. Its main subfields are Organic Chemistry. (generated from OpenAlex topic counts and CAS ranking data)

Indian Journal of Chemistry publishes peer-reviewed research articles, notes, rapid communications and reviews in the major areas of inorganic chemistry (synthetic and structural inorganic chemistry, inorganic reaction mechanisms), solid state chemistry, photochemistry, thermodynamics, spectroscopy, electrochemistry, theoretical and computational chemistry, organic chemistry (organic reaction mechanism, synthesis of chiral compounds, bio-organic chemistry, enzymes in organic synthesis, chemoenzymatic and enantioselective synthesis of organic compounds, metal-catalyzed asymmetric reactions), medicinal chemistry, natural products, analytical chemistry and materials chemistry. Peer Review Process All submissions in IJC undergo a rigorous single blind review process to ensure fair assessment/evaluation and maintain a high-quality impeccable global standard in publication. In the single blind process, the reviewers will be able to know who the authors are and the authors will have no information about the reviewers. All submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents and the peer review process may take a minimum of two to four months from the date of submission. Submitted manuscripts are generally referred to two experts (reviewers) and in few cases, it may go to more than two experts depending upon the reviewer’s response or lack of it. Only critical reviews are considered and preferred for effective evaluation and improvement in the interest of the journal. Authors may submit a list of three experts in the same subject area with complete details including email along with self declaration (about the originality and non-duplicate/parallel submission) at the time of manuscript submission. Such lists may or may not be used for review purpose of that particular manuscript. Only the manuscripts that qualify the peer review process are processed further, others are declined.
