Desde su primer número aparecido en junio del año 2001, Humanidades: revista de la Universidad de Montevideo es una publicación científica, revisada por pares (doble-ciego) e interdisciplinaria de Filosofía, Historia y Literatura, editada por la Facultad de Humanidades y Educación de la Universidad de Montevideo. A partir de su segunda época iniciada en 2017, se edita en modalidad de publicación continua con una frecuencia semestral (enero-junio y julio- diciembre). Bajo esta modalidad, la publicación de los textos se realiza de forma inmediata a su aprobación y maquetación. Los textos remitidos a sus dos secciones principales -Estudios y Artículos- se vinculan a esas áreas del conocimiento; se estimula, asimismo, la publicación de contenidos que hagan evidentes las relaciones entre las disciplinas mencionadas y su enlazamiento con otras áreas humanísticas afines.
