Aims, scope and focus
Historie – Otázky – Problémy is a biannual journal published by Faculty of Arts Press, Charles University. The journal is a peer-reviewed publication focused on research into general and Czech history within a European context, with an emphasis on comparative and interdisciplinary approaches. It covers all historical periods from the Middle Ages and the early modern era to modern and contemporary history. In addition to traditional historical research, it systematically integrates history didactics and public history, including reflections on historical memory, culture, and public space. The published studies are based on modern methodological concepts, showcasing work by established historians as well as excerpts from outstanding doctoral and rigorosum theses. Individual issues are complemented with the usual research service in the form of reviews, annotations and news from Czech and foreign conferences. The issues are organized chronologically or by theme. The journal aims to stimulate scholarly discussion on significant historical issues that have shaped and continue to shape human society and its historical consciousness and seeks to connect Czech historiography with the international research community. In all these respects, it does so not only in accordance with the latest historiographical trends, but above all through broader interdisciplinary collaboration across the humanities. Historie – Otázky – Problémy is a peer-reviewed journal in which every submitted article undergoes a thorough and objective review process. The journal was included in the list of peer-reviewed non-impacted periodicals published in the Czech Republic for 2015 and, since February 2015, has been indexed in the ERIH PLUS database (the successor to ERIH). In July 2015, the journal was also added to the EBSCOhost database. It is published twice a year in electronic format. Since 2015 HOP is an Open Access journal with online content freely available to the readers under the Creative Commons license. Full articles are available on the internet to all readers immediately upon publication and their further non-commercial use and distribution in any medium is permitted, provided the author and the journal are properly credited. No fees are charged for the manuscript submission, processing, and publication. ISSN 1804-1132 (Print) ISSN 2336-6672 (Online)
