Ukazujący się od roku 1996 periodyk Góry, Literatura, Kultura jest pismem o profilu humanistycznym, prezentującym efekty poczynań badawczych, dotyczących kulturowej funkcji gór oraz sposobów realizowania tematyki górskiej, zarówno w polskiej, jak i w światowej literaturze i sztuce. Ma on na celu wsparcie rozwijających się w ostatnich latach intensywnie zintegrowanych badań nad różnymi aspektami kulturowego istnienia gór. Jest poniekąd również odpowiedzią na zarysowującą się coraz wyraźniej potrzebę humanizacji szeroko pojętej myśli i problematyki ekologicznej, co obliguje autorów publikujących na łamach pisma do wykraczania w postępowaniu badawczym poza sztywne ramy szczegółowych dyscyplin naukowych i dążenia do prowadzenia dyskursu z perspektywy interdyscyplinarnej. Studia poświęcone tematyce górskiej otwierają szerszą perspektywę na problemy filozofii przyrody, estetyki natury, antropologii kultury, historii literatury i sztuki. Prace z tego zakresu powinny przynosić nowe spojrzenie na różne aspekty kulturotwórczej funkcji gór oraz na przemiany związanych z nimi postaw, a przede wszystkim na dzieła zrodzone z bezpośredniego kontaktu z obszarami górskimi, postrzeganymi jako fenomeny natury i kultury. Ambicją i zamierzeniem Autorów prac ogłoszonych do tej pory na łamach niniejszego pisma było zatem ukazanie inspirującego oddziaływania gór, interpretowanych jako wielka, uniwersalna wartość, na wyobraźnię twórczą w różnych okresach kultury oraz filozoficznych, artystycznych, a także obyczajowych następstw i konsekwencji tego oddziaływania. Linia ta zostanie utrzymana w kolejnych tomach. Ze względu na wieloaspektowość i bardzo szeroki zakres problematyki górskiej kolejne z przygotowywanych do druku tomów będą miały charakter monograficzny. Pierwszą tego typu próbę podjęto w tomie 5., który w całości został poświęcony tematyce alpejskiej, z kolei w tomie 6. dominowała tematyka karpacka.
