Breve Histórico A Floresta e Ambiente (FLORAM) é um periódico científico publicado pelo Instituto de Florestas da Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ). A revista foi criada em 1994 pelos docentes do Instituto de Florestas da UFRRJ. Desde sua criação, foram publicados volumes anuais sem interrupções, com edições anuais únicas entre 1994 e 2002, bimestrais entre 2003 e 2010, e trimestrais a partir de 2011. Em 2012, passou a integrar a coleção SciELO Brasil e, em 2015, adotou o sistema de submissões ScholarONE. Desde o ano de 2017, possui um fluxo contínuo de publicações. A partir de 2018, os seus artigos passaram a ser publicados exclusivamente em língua inglesa. A Floresta e Ambiente busca contribuir para a vanguarda da Ciência Florestal, mediante a publicação de artigos que evidenciem mérito científico e conteúdo inovador. Acesso Aberto A Floresta e Ambiente segue o modelo de Acesso Aberto (Open Acess), permitindo o acesso virtual, sem restrição (incluindo restrições financeiras), a todos os textos científicos publicados pelo periódico. O acesso aberto é a condição em que o detentor dos direitos autorais de um trabalho acadêmico concede direitos de uso a terceiros usando uma licença aberta (Creative Commons Attribution, CC-BY), permitindo acesso gratuito imediato ao trabalho e autorizando qualquer usuário a ler, baixar, copiar, distribuir, imprimir, pesquisar ou vincular os textos completos dos artigos, rastreá-los para indexação, passá-los como dados para software ou usá-los para qualquer outra finalidade legal. Conformidade com a Ciência Aberta Este periódico segue o modelo Gold Open Access e sua política editorial se alinha ao modus operandi da Ciência Aberta. Nesse escopo, artigos submetidos à revista devem apresentar uma declaração de disponibilidade dos dados de pesquisas que subsidiam o texto (Ver detalhes na seção Dados Abertos) e aceita-se trabalhos previamente depositados em servidores Preprints confiáveis (Ver detalhes na seção Preprints). O nome do Editor Associado responsável pelo processo de revisão dos artigos submetidos também é tornado público.
