Evolutionary Systematics, edited by the Leibniz Institute for the Analysis of Biodiversity Change and its two research museums—the Museum of Nature Hamburg and Museum Koenig Bonn—is an international, peer-reviewed journal in the life sciences dedicated to whole-organism biology, covering both extant and fossil animals. The journal’s central mission is to investigate biological diversity, understand how it changes across time and space, and identify the processes driving these changes. It publishes original research articles and reviews that explore the causes and consequences of biodiversity change, with a focus on five key areas:taxonomy, morphology, and faunistics;molecular biodiversity research;biodiversity monitoring and conservation science;knowledge exchange and the history of science; andnew technologies and workflows in systematics. The journal’s scope includes, among others, taxonomic descriptions and revisions, annotated type catalogues, studies in the history of science and science communication, data management approaches, and molecular methods and principles in systematics. Faunistic notes and data-only papers are considered when they demonstrate clear relevance to zoological museum collections.Evolutionary Systematics welcomes proposals for special issues, review articles, and comprehensive taxonomic monographs. Authors are encouraged to contact the editors prior to submission. Manuscripts primarily focused on ecology, functional anatomy, physiology, or ethology are considered only if they offer a strong systematic or evolutionary perspective.Evolutionary Systematics builds on the legacy of earlier journals published by the Leibniz Institute for the Analysis of Biodiversity Change. It brings together Mitteilungen aus dem Hamburgischen Zoologischen Museum und Institut (Museum of Nature Hamburg) and the Bonn Zoological Bulletin and Monographs (Museum Koenig Bonn) into a single, modern platform. Authors who have previously contributed to these journals are warmly invited to submit their work to Evolutionary Systematics.
