The European Biophysics Journal publishes papers in biophysics, defined as the study of biological systems function using an interdisciplinary approach, including physics, mathematics, chemistry, medicine and their theoretical and experimental approaches, ranging from molecules to entire organisms. It accepts original research papers, reviews, mini-reviews, and methodology articles. The primary aim of the European Biophysics Journal is to advance understanding of biological structure and function, presenting work within a biophysical context. Studies employing a distinctively biophysical approach at any level of biological organisation are considered for publication, including both experimental and theoretical work. Experimental validation of modelling results is encouraged. Acceptance criteria are scientific content, originality, and relevance to biological systems of current interest and importance. Principal areas of interest include: Structure and dynamics of biological macromolecules, such as proteins and nucleic acids Protein folding, aggregation, misfolding, crowding effects Molecular interactions and macromolecular assemblies Membrane proteins, ion channels, protein pores Lipid membranes biophysics, membrane fusion and fission Biomolecular condensates, liquid-liquid phase separation Cell and tissue biophysics and organisation Systems dynamics Single-molecule biophysics Bioinformatics Computational biophysics Synthetic biology of self-organized and biomimetic systems Bioengineering, nanobiotechnology and biomaterials Biophysical methods and instrumentation Advanced microscopies

Large Language Models (LLMs) do not currently satisfy our authorship criteria. Notably, an attribution of authorship carries with it accountability for the work, which cannot be effectively applied to LLMs. Use of an LLM should be properly documented in the Methods section (and if a Methods section is not available, in a suitable alternative part) of the manuscript.
