The mission of Environmental Research: Climate is to publish innovative research articles, reviews and perspectives exploring the causes, consequences and solutions of climate variability and change. The challenges posed by climate variability and change bring together different disciplines and sub-disciplines. In recent decades, a coherent climate research field has begun to coalesce, driven by the broad and heterogeneous community working to understand the rapidly changing climate system and the rapidly evolving needs of society to respond to climate-related risks. Environmental Research: Climate fills an unique role by convening the multidisciplinary communities working across the full scope of causes, consequences and solutions, in a fully Open Access publishing venue. This scope spans the physical and biogeochemical processes that shape Earth’s climate across spatial and temporal scales; the human and ecological dimensions that shape climate-related risks and impacts; and the design, analysis and evaluation of climate mitigation, adaptation, and risk-management strategies and solutions.
