Entomological Communications is an international journal devoted to fundamental and applied research in all areas of Entomology (including acarology and related arthropods). The journal considers short communications for publication in one of its six sections (Letter, Viewpoint, Data Paper, Protocol & Techniques, Nomenclatural Act, and Scientific Note). For more information, check the instructions for authors. Scope of sections: Letter may be a substantial re-analysis of an article previously published in Entomological Communications or in another journal or a brief report of research findings adequate for the journal's scope and of particular interest to the community. Viewpoint may be mini-reviews and thought-provoking short articles concerning contemporary issues in Entomology, new theories, or concepts based on existing research. This section accepts submissions only by invitation. If you would like to suggest a viewpoint article please contact the editors in charge, providing details: [email protected] for basic research or [email protected] for applied research. Data Paper describe datasets in detail and, generally do not include any interpretation or discussion (sometimes a brief explanation of the methodology used to collect the data). The purpose of a Data Paper is to provide rapid access to high-quality datasets that are of broad interest to the entomological community. They are intended to facilitate the reuse of the dataset, which increases its original value and impact, and accelerates the pace of research, avoiding unintentional duplication of efforts. Protocol & Techniques is a section for manuscripts proposing new research methodologies as well as descriptions of procedures used to support research such as rearing techniques, diets, specimen mounting media, optimization of specimen preparations and curatorial work, etc. Nomenclatural Act is a section for manuscripts that proposes any nomenclatural act governed by the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN). This section accepts manuscripts that address the following nomenclatural acts (synonymy, homonymy, new names, status revalidation, etc), eventually, descriptions of new species and genera may be accepted. Scientific Note is a section for brief reports on events or developments in the area of Entomology, such as a relevant new species record, or to communicate the availability of new resources and tools for the science of Entomology, including digital tools.
