La revista EMPIRIA fue creada en 1998 con la iniciativa e impulso del Departamento de Sociología I de la Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociología (UNED) con objeto de contribuir a la producción científica y el debate sobre las técnicas de investigación social aplicada. Actualmente, cuenta también con la colaboración del Departamento de Sociología II y de la propia Facultad. Dirigida a investigadores/as, especialistas y profesionales de la investigación social, Empiria es una revista de carácter internacional comprometida con la calidad científica de su actividad. En consonancia con su orientación metodológica, la revista prioriza la publicación de investigaciones que, junto con sus aportaciones sustantivas, realizan una contribución metodológica o promueven la reflexión sobre los métodos y estrategias de investigación en ciencias sociales. Su comité científico, integrado por expertos y expertas de reconocida trayectoria en distintos países, garantiza una revisión rigurosa de los trabajos publicados y una perspectiva plural sobre los temas abordados.
