Cultura y Religión es una revista científica de la Universidad Arturo Prat, arbitrada mediante evaluación por pares a doble ciego (double-blind peer reviewed), de acceso abierto (open access), indexada internacionalmente y de publicación continua, adscrita académicamente al Instituto de Estudios Culturales y Territoriales (IECyT), cuyo objetivo principal es fomentar la producción y circulación de conocimiento interdisciplinario, crítico y riguroso sobre las experiencias religiosas, el fenómeno de lo sagrado, las creencias y las espiritualidades en sus diversas expresiones socioculturales y procedencias geográficas. Esta edición periódica publica artículos originales e inéditos, escritos en español, inglés y portugués, basados en investigaciones empíricas, teóricas y comparadas, provenientes de las ciencias sociales, los estudios culturales y las humanidades. Se privilegian aquellos trabajos que analizan la religión en su interacción con: procesos políticos, ideológicos, de gobernanza y dinámicas de poder; configuraciones identitarias, de género y diversidad sexual; determinantes étnicas, raciales, migratorias y de integración espacial/territorial; transformaciones ecológicas, económicas, tecnológicas y de comunicación de masas. transnacionalismo, transnacionalización, mercantilización religiosa. En esta misma línea, Cultura y Religión está dirigida a investigadores e investigadoras, académicos y académicas, docentes y estudiantes de educación superior de pre y postgrado afines a la indagación en las disciplinas y temáticas ya señaladas. La revista propone una perspectiva estrictamente laica, científica y pluridisciplinar. Por ello, no se aceptarán trabajos con fines confesionales, pastorales, apologéticas o devocionales. Las doctrinas y afirmaciones de fe no podrán emplearse como punto de partida normativo ni como marco de validación teórica, aunque sí podrán ser abordadas como objeto de estudio empírico o teórico.
