CILH es un espacio abierto a la investigación científica relativa a la Literatura española e hispanoamericana, en cualquier ámbito y época. CILH se centra, además, en el análisis crítico, teórico e histórico de la literatura hispánica. Los trabajos enviados a la revista pueden ser relativos al tema propuesto para la sección monográfica, coordinada por expertos, o aportaciones variadas dentro de la temática general de la publicación para la sección miscelánea. Asimismo, se podrán enviar reseñas sobre libros relativos a la misma temática general. Los Papeles de la Fundación, el Aula de Poesía Rafael Morales y las Noticias del Seminario son secciones no abiertas a la contribución externa en las que se publican documentos inéditos conservados en el rico archivo de la FUE y contribuciones originadas en las actividades académicas realizadas en la misma sede. Estas tres secciones, junto con las reseñas, no se evalúan por pares ciegos.
