Scope

Aims, scope and focus

Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation is published by Taylor and Francis Ltd. and is in Zone 4 of Mathematics in the CAS Journal Ranking (2025 upgraded edition). By OpenAlex counts of its recent articles, its largest topics are Advanced Statistical Methods and Models, Statistical Methods and Inference and Statistical Methods and Bayesian Inference, together about 38.7% of its articles. Its main subfields are Statistics and Probability. (generated from OpenAlex topic counts and CAS ranking data)

Communications in Statistics — Simulation and Computation is a subscription-based, peer-reviewed journal covering theoretical and methodological advances at the interface of probability, statistics, and computation. We expect contributions to have a primary statistical focus and in particular welcome contributions in the following areas: algorithmic development scalable and high-performance computing for statistical methods Monte Carlo and resampling graphical and visualization-based inference statistical learning, and other computationally intensive approaches Comprehensive, well-designed, and reproducible simulation studies that rigorously assess and compare the performance of statistical or probabilistic methods are also considered. Periodic special issues on topics of current interest should aim to provide authoritative, up-to-date reviews for our readership, and we welcome proposals for such special issues submitted directly to the co-editors. The series does not favor the following: Papers whose primary contribution is introducing a new probability distribution or an extension of an existing distribution, or routine inference based on such distributions, unless the work demonstrates substantial, generalizable methodological or computational innovation. Case studies that merely apply existing computational or simulation methods to analyze specific datasets without methodological advancement or broadly applicable insights. Manuscripts focused mainly on probability or statistical theory (e.g., asymptotic properties, convergence results) that use computation or simulation only for numerical illustration rather than as a central methodological contribution. Such manuscripts may be more suitable for the Theory and Methods series. The journal welcomes original research articles and review articles for consideration. All articles received by the Journal will be subject to single anonymous peer review. Submissions should make clear the computational contribution and its impact on statistical methodology or practice. Authors can choose to publish gold open access in this journal. Read the Instructions for Authors for information on how to submit your article. Peer Review Policy All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor, and if found suitable for further consideration, will be peer-reviewed by independent and anonymous expert referees. All peer review is single anonymized and submission is online via the Submission Portal. Publish
