This is a bi-annual open access online journal of the Association of Communication Scholars & Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN). In consonance with the aims of the association, it is a unique publication that offers opportunities for dialogue between scholarship and practice. The journal welcomes academic papers which will be held to the usual strict rules of scholarship, but it will also create space for sound contributions from industry practitioners whose reflections on work cultures will give insight into or challenge the adequacy of existing theories and principles. To this end, the journal will address emerging challenges for scholarly consideration. Whilst maintaining attention on perennial academic and professional issues it will establish the required synergy for knowledge advancement. Communication Cultures in Africa (CCA) offers an opportunity to engage with media and communication cultures and issues stemming from the global south. The journal will focus on processes involved in the dissemination of information and communication practices – issues of production, reception practices, the impact of media messages on cultural contexts, and vice versa. It will be concerned with the study of media representations, regulation and matters of identity. Although its particular focus relates to the African continent, content will not be exclusive to this context: papers and views from other cultural contexts which have a bearing on its concerns are welcome. Issues to be prioritised will be those which address challenges of cultural diversity, especially as affecting slowly evolving societies and struggles of emerging democracies exemplified by societies in African contexts. Reflecting the broad interests and subject disciplines within the association, the journal which has a media and communication slant, will be multidisciplinary in approach. Contributions are expected from scholarly disciplines including Media and Communication, Cultural Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Sociolinguistics, Political Science, Marketing. The journal will cover the following: Journalism Practice and News Cultures Political Communication Cultures Peace and Conflict Communication Cultures Broadcast Media: Cultures in Practice and Regulation Public Affairs & Public Relations Cultures & Practices Health Communication and Cultures Cultures in Advertising Theory & Practice Film Industry and Cultures Nollywood & Emerging Conventions in Film Intercultural Communication Identities a
