Since 1966, Clinical & Experimental Immunology has published research at the forefront of translational and clinical immunology. We remain committed to studies that have the potential to transform the understanding of the immunopathology of human disease and influence both preclinical and clinical practice. We welcome original research that provides mechanistic insights, whether through novel experimental findings, careful confirmation of previously published results, or incremental advances that clarify and extend existing knowledge. We support robust, reproducible science, including confirmation studies enriched with additional data, that plays a crucial role in building a reliable foundation for clinical translation. We are especially interested in manuscripts that: Identify and dissect molecular, cellular, or systemic mechanisms in immune function and dysfunction. Provide well-designed experimental models or clinical investigations that advance our understanding of disease pathways. Offer incremental but meaningful advances that address gaps, resolve inconsistencies, or refine existing hypotheses. Integrate mechanistic findings with translational implications for diagnostics, prognostics, or therapeutics. The journal embraces a broad range of approaches, from the application of state-of-the-art technologies, such as next-generation sequencing, metagenomics, and high-dimensional phenotyping, to innovative experimental or clinical designs that elucidate the mechanisms underlying disease processes, therapeutic responses, or trial outcomes. Journal articles are assessed by our dedicated Section Editors, and our shared editorial vision is to be a trusted venue for robust, reproducible, and mechanistically informative research, where both groundbreaking breakthroughs and careful, incremental progress are valued for their contribution to the foundation upon which clinical advances are built. Manuscripts that do not fit into one of the sections described below will be assessed by our Editor-in-Chief. All papers with high relevance to translational immunology are welcome. Clinical & Experimental Immunology is part of the British Society for Immunology family of journals, including our sibling journals Immunotherapy Advances and Discovery Immunology.
