La publicación Chihuahua Hoy fue concebida en 2001, con una periodicidad anual. Su primer volumen salió a la luz en 2003 y desde entonces ha aparecido cada año. La temática ha sido muy variada y una de las experiencias es la renovación y superación de las investigaciones y saberes que se ofrecen a los lectores. Los textos incluidos tienen una extensión que excede la usual en revistas con periodicidad menor y responden a resultados de proyectos emprendidos y desarrollados en períodos mas o menos prolongados. De allí que se ha mantenido como un anuario, cuya relevancia como fuente de conocimientos en el área de ciencias sociales ha ido en aumento. Tiene el propósito de examinar diferentes aspectos de una compleja realidad social que se modifica velozmente y que al mismo tiempo mantiene fenómenos o distintivos con una mayor permanencia o constancia. Igualmente ofrecer un panorama general de fuentes para conocer Chihuahua. Otra intención es servir a todos aquellos que por su oficio o curiosidad les interesa saber más sobre nuestro estado, como funcionarios, maestros, estudiantes, investigadores, dirigentes políticos y periodistas. Para todos los escritos hemos demandado independencia de criterio y rigor científico. Esta obra es producto de una empresa intelectual ambiciosa y consolidada, con bases firmes y reconocimiento de autores, revisores y lectores ubicados en México y en el extranjero. Es una publicación que acepta todos los temas, siempre que tengan alguna referencia al estado de Chihuahua, de autores nacionales o extranjeros. Está dirigida estudiantes de pregrado y posgrado, docentes, investigadores y al público en general.
