Časopis je převážně orientován na onkopatologické otázky důležité v bioptické praxi a na jejich řešení cestou histopatologie, cytopatologie, imunohistochemie a elektronové mikroskopie. Druhá největší skupina příspěvků se týká nejrůznějších aktuálních problémů speciální patologie zkoumaných - často za klinické spolupráce - komplexním morfologickým přístupem. Malá část sdělení je zaměřena na patologii experimentální, veterinární a na otázky metodické. Publikují se původní práce většího rozsahu, kazuistiky, krátká sdělení i práce souhrnné. Samostatná část Soudní lékařství přináší původní práce z celé oblasti soudní medicíny a zprávy ze života odborné společnosti.
