Castilla. Estudios de Literatura (ISSN: 1989-7383) is an annual electronic journal (published January–December) dedicated to the publication of original academic articles, written in Spanish or English, concerning Spanish and Spanish-American Literature, Literary Theory and Criticism, and Comparative Literature, as well as unpublished book reviews on these subjects. The journal aims to foster the creation and publication of research works conducted by academics and specialists, and is targeted towards researchers and students specializing in these subjects. The journal Castilla was established at the University of Valladolid (Spain) in 1940. It was re-founded in 1980 as Castilla. Boletín del Departamento de Literatura Española (ISSN: 0376-200X) of the University of Valladolid, and from that moment on, it was printed on an annual basis. Beginning with issue 14 (1989), it was renamed Castilla. Estudios de Literatura (ISSN: 1133-3820) and was published until 2004 (the final volume, 28–29, corresponds to the years 2003–2004). In 2008, the Department of Spanish Literature, Literary Theory, and Comparative Literature at the University of Valladolid decided to transition the journal into an electronic publication. In 2009, with the launch of a presentation issue "zero," Castilla. Estudios de Literatura commenced a new digital phase (ISSN: 1989-7383), intended as a continuation of the previous iterations. The works contained in the volumes of the previous phase (1980–2004) have been digitized and may be accessed via the following link: Castilla 1980–2004 (Dialnet). In this new digital phase, Castilla. Estudios de Literatura aims to achieve and maintain the highest level of scientific-academic quality; consequently, it will strive for international scope and adhere to all requirements demanded of quality scientific publications. The Editorial Board and the Scientific/Advisory Board of Castilla. Estudios de Literatura are composed of faculty from the University of Valladolid and a high percentage of scholars from other Spanish and foreign universities. It has been ensured that both boards contain a sufficiently broad number of specialists to cover all thematic areas of the journal (Literary Theory, Literary Criticism, Comparative Literature, Spanish-American Literature, and Spanish Literature across all periods). At least 50% of the Editorial Board consists of individuals affiliated with institutions external to the publishing body (the University of Valladolid). Re
