Cadernos de Linguística (Cad_Lin) is a Diamond Open Access journal funded by the Brazilian Linguistics Association (Abralin). It publishes peer-reviewed research that advances the understanding of human language. Cad_Lin operates through an editorial-curation model and is guided by the principle that making manuscripts available as preprints strengthens scientific practice. The journal’s editorial process focuses on manuscripts that are already publicly accessible. Rather than functioning as a gatekeeper that decides what may or may not be disseminated, Cad_Lin serves as a venue for critical engagement: editors evaluate submitted preprints and select those considered suitable for inclusion in the journal’s collection. Selected works are published with public, signed reviews and authors’ responses, making the evaluation process visible and integrating scholarly dialogue into the publication itself. Cad_Lin follows a continuous publication model and publishes one volume per calendar year. Through 2026, inclusive, each annual volume is subdivided into issues released at irregular intervals. Beginning in 2027, the journal will publish a single annual volume with no separate issues; thematic collections will be organized as thematic sections in the table of contents, and their articles will be published individually as soon as they are ready. The journal accepts submissions only within the categories defined in its editorial policy: Registered Reports (both Stage 1 Registered Report Protocols and Stage 2 Registered Reports), reproducibility reports, critical perspectives, and manuscripts submitted to thematic collections. The journal’s other accepted categories may only be submitted as part of a thematic collection and in accordance with the scope and conditions of the corresponding call for papers. Cad_Lin also accepts Registered Reports recommended by PCI Registered Reports, without an additional round of peer review. Manuscripts that do not fall within these categories are not sent for review. Cad_Lin supports the open science movement, which seeks to make the research and publication process transparent, including open data, open protocols, open code, and open peer review. The journal promotes responsible research practices and fosters a culture that values collaboration, diversity, inclusion, and openness. Cad_Lin actively contributes to strengthening scientific culture.
