Biuletyn Szadkowski jest interdyscyplinarnym periodykiem, którego profil merytoryczny określa tematyka związana z regionem szadkowskim, rozumianym nie tylko w wymiarze współczesnym, ale także z uwzględnieniem historycznej roli i zasięgu oddziaływania Szadku, gdy był on jednym z głównych ośrodków miejskich centralnej Polski. Czasopismo adresowane jest do środowiska akademickiego oraz praktyków zaangażowanych w realizację polityki społeczno-gospodarczej na szczeblu lokalnym i regionalnym, a także do społeczności regionu szadkowskiego. Zakres tematyczny publikowanych prac obejmuje zarówno problematykę środowiska przyrodniczego i antropogenicznego, zagadnienia rozwoju społeczno-ekonomicznego, jak i szeroko rozumiane dziedzictwo kulturowe. Celem czasopisma jest zaprezentowanie przede wszystkim zagadnień dotyczących szeroko pojmowanego dziedzictwa regionu szadkowskiego, zarówno w kontekście środowiskowym, przyrodniczym, ekologicznym, kulturowym i społeczno-ekonomicznym. Ponadto tytuł aspiruje do bycia swoistym forum wymiany poglądów poprzez zachęcanie autorów i czytelników do prowadzenia polemik i dyskusji na temat oddziaływania tego regionu na pozostałe obszary kraju.
