Tiene un carácter transdisciplinar con un enfoque en las diversas áreas de las Ciencias Médicas y de la Salud. Su proceso editorial tiene como referentes los estándares de publicación para revistas arbitradas del International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) y del Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) . BIOCIENCIAS publica principalmente artículos de investigación científica y tecnológica, originales e inéditos, artículos de revisión, artículos de reflexión y casos clínicos, buscando ofrecer un espacio para el diálogo académico y la difusión de conocimientos en un contexto globalizad, contribuyendo al avance del conocimiento de la medicina, biotecnología, ciencias biológicas, salud pública y educación.
