Aims, scope and focus

Autonomous Intelligent Systems is published by Springer. By OpenAlex counts of its recent articles, its largest topics are Autonomous Vehicle Technology and Safety, Distributed Control Multi-Agent Systems and Machine Fault Diagnosis Techniques, together about 29% of its articles. Its main subfields are Control and Systems Engineering. (generated from OpenAlex topic counts and CAS ranking data)

Autonomous Intelligent Systems (AIS) is a fully open access journal that publishes peer-reviewed original, invited survey and review papers that promote and disseminate scientific discovery, knowledge, and applications in the fields of autonomous intelligent systems, which lies at the intersection of artificial intelligence, robotics, learning systems, systems and control, unmanned systems, multi-agents systems, networks, machine learning, cyber-physical systems, distributed systems, automation, human-robot interaction, artificial intelligence ethics, and laws, etc. Autonomous intelligence systems are equipped with abilities such as sensing and perception, data processing and information fusion, intelligent decision making, cognition and mental development, learning and adaption, communications and computation, thus can achieve a high level of autonomy to perform missions without human intervention or can naturally interact and collaborate with humans. The fundamental theory and methods in autonomous intelligent systems are the preliminary focus of the journal, and the “learning for autonomy” and “intelligence for autonomy” are particularly encouraged. The journal will also publish papers that apply autonomous intelligence to various systems, including aerial vehicle, ground robots, space and deepwater exploration, underwater vehicles, software systems, automatic science discovery, energy and power systems, transportation and smart city, social systems and management, communications systems, computer vision systems, intelligent agriculture, smart architecture, smart manufacturing, medical and health care systems, Internet of Things, etc. The topics of the journal include, but are not limited to: • Intelligent robotics; • Autonomous agent systems; • Optimal control and decision making; • Machine learning and applications; • Knowledge representation; • Intelligent information and multimedia systems; • Social intelligence systems; • Natural language understanding and processing; • Human-machine-environment interaction and coexisting; • Swarm intelligence and distributed control; • Intelligent sensing and multi-sensor information fusion. Papers on multidisciplinary systems are also welcomed, such as brain sciences, material science, cognitive science and philosophy, and that enable autonomous intelligence, the integration of autonomous intelligence with business, management, finance, scientific discovery and other engineering applications.
