Athenea Digital promueve la reflexión interdisciplinar en la tradición de las ciencias humanas y sociales. La revista aborda los fenómenos sociales contemporáneos en sus múltiples dimensiones (política, económica, cultural, comunicacional...) y valora la reflexión rigurosa sobre la articulación entre los diferentes dominios de la actividad humana. El principal objetivo de la revista es potenciar el diálogo y la innovación en los estudios sociales y culturales. Explícitamente reivindica un ethos receptivo al debate y la reflexión crítica tanto teórica como metodológica, internacional en su mirada y alcance, abierto, reflexivo, imaginativo y desdisciplinador. Athenea Digital presta especial interés a la conexión y relación que aparece entre diversos desarrollos intelectuales, a los procesos de cambio en las prácticas y formas sociales, y a la transformación institucional en su sentido más amplio. Junto a los temas habituales de la tradición social y cultural, Athenea Digital incluye investigaciones y reflexiones sobre: etnicidad; imaginario social; medio ambiente y sociedad; la globalización y sus discursos; poder-saber; género; materialidades; conflicto social; sociedad, espacio y tiempo; estudios urbanos; arquitectura-diseño y ciencias sociales; ciencia tecnología y sociedad; nuevos movimientos sociales; identidades... Athenea Digital publica: a) Artículos empíricos, con preferencia hacia aquellos que adopten un enfoque inter o transdisciplinar (7.500 palabras máximo);b) Contribuciones de naturaleza teórica y ensayos, con preferencia hacia aquellos que discutan planteamientos especialmente polémicos o enfaticen la naturaleza y efectos político-ideológicos tanto de las disciplinas sociales como de sus objetos de conocimiento (7.500 palabras máximo);c) Revisiones críticas de la literatura habitual dentro del ámbito, así como de otros materiales cuya presencia no es tan habitual en las revistas de pensamiento social pero que puedan tener algún interés para este campo de conocimiento, por ejemplo: cine, arte, literatura... (7.500 palabras máximo);d) Clásicos. Traducciones al castellano de trabajos clásicos en ciencias sociales, acompañadas de artículos introductoriose) Reseñas.
