Arheološki vestnik ureja in izdaja Inštitut za arheologijo ZRC SAZU v založništvu Založbe ZRC (sozaložnik: SAZU). Že od ustanovitve je slovenska znanstvena revija za področje arheologije z interdisciplinarno in mednarodno usmeritvijo, deluje kot forum za razprave o arheoloških temah ter z njimi povezanih znanstvenoraziskovalnih področij (antična grška in rimska zgodovina, epigrafika, numizmatika, antropologija, arheozoologija, arheobotanika, arheoastronomija, paleookolje ipd.). Revija je geografsko osredotočena na vzhodnoalpski, severnojadranski, panonski in zahodnobalkanski prostor, kronološko pa na obdobja od prazgodovine do konca srednjega veka. Odprta je za diskusije in različne teoretske poglede. Objavlja tudi tematske sklope razprav s posameznih znanstveno-strokovnih posvetov in srečanj.
