"Argumentos. Revista de crítica social" es la publicación del Instituto de Investigaciones Gino Germani. Nació en el 2002 con el propósito de articular la producción académica y el análisis de los acontecimientos que se desarrollaban en el país. Se propuso, entonces, originar un nuevo estilo de escritura no homologable a los informes de investigación ni a las notas periodísticas. A partir de 2021 se edita con una periodicidad semestral, publicando un número en el mes de abril (abr. - sep.) integrado por artículos de temáticas variadas vinculadas a las ciencias sociales y otro en el mes de octubre (oct. - mar.) organizado alrededor de un núcleo de actualidad y relevancia social. Este número agrega a la sección de temática abierta la clásica sección de Conversaciones entre especialistas que son invitados por el comité editorial de la publicación y un Dossier relacionado integrado por artículos evaluados por pares resultante de una convocatoria abierta. Tanto la sección Espacio abierto como el Dossier temático publican artículos científicos. Estos pueden ser textos originales elaborados a partir de resultados de investigación, en tal caso deben incluir la descripción de la pregunta que motivó la investigación, objetivos, diseño de metodología, resultados y conclusiones. Si bien no es necesario utilizar exactamente estos apartados, el artículo deberá mantener la estructura general de los artículos científicos. Los artículos pueden ser también de reflexión o ensayo, textos originales a partir de reflexiones teóricas desde una perspectiva analítica, interpretativa o crítica sobre una problemática particular. Actualmente la revista no publica reseñas o artículos de revisión.
