El eje temático de la revista es la comunicación y, dentro del amplio concepto, el periodismo es un área de especial interés. No obstante, considerando la importancia de la comunicación hoy en día, se aceptan trabajos que den a conocer resultados de investigación científica desde distintas perspectivas, en torno a la comunicación. Se valora la originalidad de los trabajos, se da preferencia a aquellas aportaciones que supongan un avance para el conocimiento. Ámbitos. Revista Internacional de Comunicación es una publicación semestral de acceso abierto, que no impone tasas a los/las autores/as ni a los/las lectores/as. Se aceptan trabajos en castellano, inglés y portugués. El alcance de la revista es internacional, con un claro interés en la región iberoamericana.
