El objetivo de la revista ASA es la publicación de trabajos de investigación de alta calidad e inéditos que aporten soluciones para la adecuada gestión de los recursos hídricos. Los autores tienen la responsabilidad de presentar trabajos de alta calidad en cumplimiento de los aspectos éticos y política de transparencia que promueve la revista. Los autores deben articular claramente la manera en que sus propuestas o trabajos contribuyen al actual estado del arte; por ejemplo: nuevos métodos, aplicaciones robustas, transferencia de tecnología, tecnología apropiada, conocimiento de la situación o comportamiento de fenómenos del recurso hídrico. El público al que van dirigidas las publicaciones son principalmente, aunque no de forma exclusiva: a) estudiantes de licenciatura; b) estudiantes de postgrados; c) profesionales e investigadores; y d) tomadores de decisiones, todos ellos vinculados con las áreas de la ingeniería sanitaria, ambiente, hidráulica, hidrología y otras afines.
