Scope
Aims, scope and focus
Acta Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae is published by Polskie Towarzystwo Botaniczne and is in Zone 4 of Biology in the CAS Journal Ranking (2025 upgraded edition). By OpenAlex counts of its recent articles, its largest topics are Botany and Plant Ecology Studies, Agriculture, Plant Science, Crop Management and Lichen and fungal ecology, together about 38.9% of its articles. Its main subfields are Plant Science and Ecology, Evolution, Behavior and Systematics. (generated from OpenAlex topic counts and CAS ranking data)
The Acta Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae (ASBP) publishes mainly significant, original research papers presenting the results new to plant science. The submissions are encouraged and accepted from all the disciplines of plant biology such as taxonomy and floristics, phytogeography, genetics, structure, evolution, ecology, and physiology. The analyses performed on all levels of the plant body from molecular to macromorphological are welcomed. Although our aim is to shape ASBP as an international journal, its tradition is that it serves as a platform, on which the problems valid for the country and for this part of the world are being discussed. Thus, too narrowly focused papers, for instance those referring to distant floras, without generally acceptable conclusions, will not be considered. Besides the original research papers, authors may submit floristic notes, barcoding resources and reviews. In addition, our purpose is to publish the invited papers in case of significant developments in plant science and special, thematic issues of the journal. Authors are advised against submitting manuscripts introducing novel classifications without supporting original statistical morphological or molecular analyses. The submission of monographs, revisions, or descriptions of new species without such analyses is discouraged. Papers focusing on individual species, such as phylogeographic or palaeobotanical studies, will be considered for publication only if they feature significant contributions to taxonomy or encompass broader aspects of evolutionary, biogeographic, or biological significance. All submissions must be written in good English, which is solely a responsibility of the authors.
