"Europe" can be the empirical setting, the regulatory space, the institutional architecture, or the policy audience (research clearly articulates the European relevance of its insights). The policy and practice relevance test - relevance exists when a study produces insights that can credibly inform decisions made by (i) policy makers who set direction, (ii) regulators and standard setters who write and enforce rules, and (iii) practitioners who must implement, assure, and use reported information. Implications for policy and practice should be clearly stated in the paper. The academic contribution test - research is expected to make a scholarly contribution and have an impact. It is expected to be novel, insightful, original, placed correctly in the literature and well executed.
