Developmental Neurobiology welcomes original research articles and critical review papers that report mechanistic but also conceptual advances regarding all aspects of nervous system development, regeneration and aging, reaching across the varied lifespans of invertebrates and vertebrates including humans. Submitted work may concern topics of neuro-evolution, plasticity, the ontogeny of behavior, regeneration and repair including the use of stem cells, but also studies of nervous system diseases, for example neurodevelopmental disorders, neuroinflammation and neuroimmune responses. Submitted work may involve a wide range of strategies including genetics, epigenetics, molecular, cellular, physiological, anatomical or behavioral studies. The journal also has a long and successful tradition of publishing Special Issues on the above topics, which usually provide comprehensive conceptual overviews that fill an important gap in the current literature and provide a valuable resource for researchers in those fields. The Editors welcome suggestions of Special Issue topics or pre-submission inquiries about original research reports or potential review articles that fall into the journal's remit.
