Studies on microbial genetics, genomics, and molecular biology, including mechanisms of gene regulation and genome evolution. Microbial Pathogenesis and Host-Microbe Interactions: Exploration of the mechanisms by which pathogenic microorganisms cause diseases in humans, animals, and plants. Investigations into host-microbe interactions, including the immune response and microbial virulence factors. Microbial Biotechnology and Industrial Microbiology: Advances in the application of microorganisms for biotechnological and industrial purposes, including bioprocess engineering and microbial production of biofuels, pharmaceuticals, and enzymes.
