The Urban Review is a leading forum for research, reviews, and essays on education in urban and densely populated contexts. Founded to address concerns about so-called “inner city” educational dynamics, the journal has evolved to conceptualize the “urban” as a shifting set of social, spatial, and political conditions that shape education across cities, suburbs, and interconnected rural communities.While the journal maintains a primary focus on the United States and North America, it welcomes global and comparative perspectives on the social, cultural, economic, and policy forces that influence education. The Urban Review publishes periodical and special issues that advance theory, inform practice, and promote equity and innovation through diverse disciplinary traditions and methodological approaches.

This journal follows a single-blind reviewing procedure. This journal also publishes special/guest-edited issues. The peer review process for these articles is the same as the peer review process of the journal in general.
