Scientia Militaria: South African Journal of Military Studies is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published bi-annually by the Faculty of Military Science of Stellenbosch University in South Africa. Our journal has a long and proud history of researching and publishing on a broad spectrum of matters and issues relating to defence, security and military affairs using a discipline-based and inter-disciplinary research approach. Published articles are of high quality since all submissions are refereed (peer-reviewed) by at least two experts in the field. Refereeing is done with complete anonymity and confidentiality. The journal does not charge any APCs or submission charges. More importantly, it is DHET accredited, allowing researchers the opportunity to qualify for a subsidy from the South African Department of Higher Education and Training. Apart from academics, the journal has also attracted researchers from different backgrounds, experiences and sectors to publish their work. Furthermore, the journal’s editorial team has and continues to welcome research beyond our domestic borders despite its South African focus, which further adds to its rich and diverse character.
