Established in 1798, Philosophical Magazine is the world’s oldest continuously published inter-disciplinary commercial scientific journal, published by Taylor & Francis throughout its remarkable history. Philosophical Magazine is an international, peer-reviewed journal publishing high-quality, original research, review and opinion articles focused on physical and material sciences and related disciplines. The journal considers a diverse range of contributions across a broad range of topic areas. The scope is split into the below sections. The submission of papers covering the impact of novel scientific developments on other subject disciplines and practical applications is encouraged. History of the Physical Sciences The scope of Philosophical Magazine has been further expanded by the launch of a new section which is now open for the publication of articles covering the History of the Physical Sciences. The journal welcomes submissions of scholarly articles from authors who are professional historians of science, or scientists with an interest in the history of their subject. Examples of relevant topics include: New insights or commentaries relating to the development of major theories or discoveries in physics, materials science, chemistry, astronomy, earth sciences and engineering The work of famous scientists and also of lesser-known researchers
