Established in 1966, Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals is a world-leading journal publishing original research papers in both an experimental and theoretical nature in three areas of specialization: liquid crystals, molecular crystals, and low-dimensional solids. These cover, but are not limited to: Liquid Crystals: Structure LC Chemistry Thermotropics Lyotropics Polymeric LC LC Colloids Biological and Bioinspired LC Physical properties (dielectric, ferroelectric, etc.) Optics and Nonlinear Optics Interfacial Phenomena Nanostructures and metamaterials Modeling and Simulations Machine Learning and AI Molecular Crystals: Structure Chemical Physics Organic Crystals Spectroscopy Energy and charge transfer Optical phenomena Radiation effects Machine Learning and AI Low-dimensional Solids: Structure Electronic properties Magnetic properties Optical properties Transport phenomena Thin films Machine Learning and AI The journal publishes research articles, invited review articles, and book reviews. In all three areas, experimental manuscripts describing both preparation and properties will be considered. The journal will also consider articles in a range of subject areas where applications may have particular relevance for the liquid crystals and molecular crystals communities. For example, but not limited to soft matter, polymers, nanoscience and nanotechnology, quantum dots, machine learning, AI recognition and other AI technologies including deep learning study for materials research. Articles that describe determination of crystal structure alone are not encouraged unless some solid state forces (hydrogen bonding, charge transfer, etc.) are playing a significant role and/or some solid state properties of the materials are measured. Review articles, unless invited by the journal's Editor should be submitted to Liquid Crystals Reviews : https://www.tandfonline.com/journals/tlcr20 If your submission contains and discusses a new crystal structure, uploading the original cif(s) together with the structure factors and the checkcif file is obligatory. Peer Review Policy All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor-in-Chief, and if found suitable for further consideration, will be peer-reviewed by independent and anonymous expert referees.
