JSS positions itself as a scholarly platform dedicated to advancing critical social studies on Indonesia and the Global South. Unlike general social science journals, JSS focuses on contextual and interdisciplinary analyses of social, political, cultural, and educational dynamics that shape citizenship, democracy, and social transformation in developing societies. This journal has been ACCREDITED by the National Journal Accreditation (ARJUNA) and managed by the Ministry of Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia, with SINTA 4.
